Secret Garden

This first post is an expression of the title of this blog, Wild Swimming Heart. My partner and l have just returned to our home in Nelson, New Zealand Aotearoa from a surf trip to the east coast of the North lsland. lt is a pilgrimage which l have made if not annually, then regularly for the past 32 years.  After 50 years of surfing around the world, l now devote my time exclusively to bodysurfing with a handboard.

lam a sponsored team rider for Slyde Handboards USA and Seventhwave Wetsuits NZ. Yesterday was Valentines Day and Rosie and l celebrated by flying two special kites next to the sea below our home. l am also a T'ai Chi Ch'uan teacher of 32 years and a Contact Improvisation Dance Teacher of 20 years. l mention this only because those passions which have so actively sustained my life so far have centred around weightlessness, grace and flight. Up north we flew two small kites over the reefs which comprise what l euphemistically call the Secret Garden and this sparked a desire to take further, our journeying in felt flight.

Rosie gave me some small Valentine gifts among which was a word puzzle which she had used to spell out her perception of me - Wild Swimming Heart - which actually moved me to tears - hence the title of this blog.
